"There will be no free rides, no excuses. You already have two strikes against you: your name and your complexion. Because of those two strikes, there are some people in this world who will assume that you know less than you do. *Math* is the great equalizer... When you go for a job, the person giving you that job will not want to hear your problems; ergo, neither do I. You're going to work harder here than you've ever worked anywhere else. And the only thing I ask from you is *ganas.*"

went to MOCA(Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown LA) today with my art class. the first gallery, the actual MOCA building across the street from the Disney Concert Hall, was breathtaking. it was amazing to see original Rothko's, Pollock's, and Warhol's(unfortuneatly we weren't allowed to photograph a few pieces, and the Warhol was one of them :[ ). it was also awesome to see a Larry Bell piece, which was interesting because i actually got to visit his Venice Beach studio last year and meet him. then we headed over to Little Tokyo and went to another MOCA gallery. the pieces there were more contemporary and a lot of them were pretty disturbing, but it was far more interesting than the first gallery. after that we got to explore Little Tokyo. i didn't really take any pictures from there though, sorry! i got to hang out with some nerdy guys and spent some time in this amazing anime collectors store. i don't even like anime and my mind was still blown. i saw some pretty rare transformers and i fiiiiinally bought a gloomy bear!!!!

all photos by me. unfortuneatly i forgot to write down all the artists names. -__-

first gallery

^ this was a super amazing all white room with curved corners and we were required to take off our shoes when going in. it was quite an experience. almost meditative.

second gallery. you'll notice a difference in the art
